Well, I'm just home from several days of tests at the hospital.

It looks as though I'll be embarking on a new voyage of discovery.

The thinking at the moment suggests "a 98% chance that it's lung cancer". I translate that as a definite. I'm told that they're still waiting histology and cytology test results.

So let's see what this new discovery teaches me about myself.

Incidentally, given that I'm changing horses in mid-stream will I still be allowed to post on here?

Hello Pikeman

Sorry to hear about the lung problem, hope it is not causing discomfort. We would miss you if you didn't post here! Did wonder why you had been so quiet recently. Keep us informed of how things are.

Best wishes

Pikeman, I am so so sorry to hear this. This is my fear as well.. I have asked my doctor about the chances of this, they are very very high, for either lung cancer or the liver. I belong to another cancer site as well. There are numerous oral cancer patients that the cancer has mestasrasized into lung cancer and or liver cancer. The number was so high that it scared the life out of me..So I called my doctor about this. Once the lymphs nodes are removed the cancer is no longer contained to one area. Oh Pikeman with tears in my eyes and a heavy heart, I am truely sorry to hear this..All my ,Love, thoughts and prayers....Vicki

Hello All

Smoking is the common risk factor to both mouth cancers and lung cancers; it could be difficult to differentiate a new lung cancer from 'spread'. Hopefully, Pikeman's biopsy will show neither! Just in case some of you are wondering about a mouth cancer spreading to the lungs, etc you may find my reply to caz on 'can mouth cancer spread' to be of interest.

Hope those of you in the UK are having a sunny day, I am Smiler .

Best wishes

I'm very sorry to hear this Pikeman. Let's hope that you will hear good, not bad things when you get the results. I will keep you in my prayers, and if it is truly as bad as you think I hope you will have the courage and stamina to cope. You will always get a warm welcome here.

You had better not go far - I wondered where you were recently - I need you to taunt with my toast jokes!

Dear Pikeman, The very best of luck with this new challenge you may have to face. You have a great spirit, and are a tremendous help to others with your quirky wisdom. It is good to be able to give a bit of help along the way with our prayers, healing thoughts and oh-so-many good wishes.

Hi Pikeman

Hope you are keeping well. It looks like there are some advances being made. See: Gene Therapy Shows Promising Results for Patients with lung cancers. To date, more than 20 trials, enrolling more than 600 patients worldwide, are testing Advexin in lung, head and neck, breast and ovarian tumors. I wonder if there are any in the U.K. ?

Best wishes

Thanks for that Dr. J, certainly sounds interesting.

Wonder if it's being tested here, or will the UK draf its feet as usual?

I'll ask the question at the meeting on Aug. 12 when I'm due to hear the worst.

Keep you posted
