I am a classical guitarist and have just posted a little video on youtube. Anyone interested in taking a look should just type in "Stephen Lee Ostrowski" on the the search bar in youtube. Hope you like it. Sorry if I don't smile in the video. I simply concentrate too much.
Latest on my "Osteoradionecrosis" is that I will probably be in for surgery around the second week in August......can't wait! The things I do for the good of medical research! |

Steve,
What a great video! I'd been on your website before and thoroughly enjoyed your range of interests; this just added to it. Mesmerizing! I notice that you've got that extra crook (bend?) in your right thumb that most of us don't have. I play piano (I'm not a pianist) and enjoy watching musician's hands. I wish I had the long slender fingers that great pianists have or the guitarist fingers that you have. Beautiful work! Best of luck on that surgery that I doubt I could ever pronounce, let alone understand. Be sure to let us know the outcome as quickly as you're able. Mimi This message has been edited. I think I need some help .......
I was able to open your clip, Steve but only got to see tiny snippets before it stalled and I guess went into loading mode. That would take maybe a minute and then I'd get a little flash before it happened again. Very frustrating! I did this for about 15 minutes thinking that once it all loaded it would be fine, but I had no joy. Any suggestions? Cheers Deborah |

Deb,
You'll have better luck using Dr. J's suggestion - lots to view there. Heathrow Steve's website Sometimes youtube vids don't make it across our ponds, but the websites usually can be picked up. If you google Steve you'll find all sorts of hits and reviews - he's even made eBay! (Sorry Steve! Hate to see your work being sold at a discount.) Something happened a few months ago where US youtube couldn't be viewed in the UK - this sucks! I think whatever copyrights were violated have been settled by now - someone please let me know if I'm wrong. Good luck, Steve! I'm a fan. I also was an airline employee for a very long time and shudder to think what it might be like to work at Heathrow. Must say though that Heathrow has the best people watching anywhere. Mimi |

Well Steve, just had a wander through your website that the others have given the link for and felt quite emotional your story was so beautifully written and poignant ,what a way with words you have .The diagnosis with the GP and ensuing biopsies and diary of treatment was so horribly familiar a nightmare of which so many have had to live through and no preparation mentally could ever conceive the amount of stamina and strength needed to reach that light at the end of tunnel .
Sadly a small number of close friends and family members do fall by the wayside as they can't cope with the mood swings and difficulties that ensue. I guess some people find it easier to walk away and just phone every now and again and others just seem to vanish . I thought your poem was excellent and in a strange way feel as if I was sort of prying in to your personal space .However it does make us all realize we are not alone in dealing with this disease and the toll it takes mentally to cope .Back to the usual question ,they treat the disease but the fall out emotionally is sometimes brushed under the carpet . Keep up this great work Steve your music is beautiful and your writing skills should not be wasted . Best wishes for a bright future to come . Bell. |

Thanks Mimi and Bell for your kind comments. ... blushing here.
Off to Thailand on Monday 17 August for three weeks. When I get back i'm under the knife for my Osteoradionecrosis op (Part Jaw Replacement)and will be in Hospital for a couple of weeks. Who knows how long in real terms it will take me to get over this or deal with it. There will be the usual collection of side effects no doubt. Will report with an update in about six weeks when i'm lounging around at home going through the latter stages of recovery (Late September). Everybody else.....keep the faith Steve |

Hi there ,you have just taken me down memory lane ,Paul and I had two fantastic trips to Thailand ,one of our favourite places we just loved it and did so many exciting trips and sightseeing there .
Funnily enough the other day I looked out some of our old holiday videos and this was one of them .We cuddled up and had such a good laugh watching it .One of the restaurants Paul loved was on the river and I videoed him tucking into a beautiful meal which you cooked yourself on this table wok ,the restaurant gave you huge "Baby Hughie Bibs to wear " and my hubby was in 7th heaven .The food and the people are vivid and exciting and we wish we could also return for a short holiday ,well who knows . Have a wonderful time will be thinking of you soaking up that magical atmosphere . I know you have the operation looming ahead but on a positive note it is and can be dealt with .Please let us know how things progress ,and of course all about your fab holiday . Happy Holibags , Best wishes , Bell. |

Have a good time Steve. Where in Thailand?

Hi Vinod and everyone else. I have returned from Thailand and had my operation which i'll come back to in a minute.
I spent most of time in Bangkok and Pattaya on this recent trip though I travelled more extensively around Thailand prior to this and spent time up North I Udonthani (where I met my lady love) and Nong Bualamphu. I am currently looking at buying a condo in Pattaya. I have had the op for my Osteoradionecrosis condition. The surgeon explained that when he cut me open he found that my jaw was not as extensively damaged as first thought. The dead bone and infection was cleared up and I was stiched up again to fight another day. He did however, tell me that the condition would slowly deteriorate over the coming years and it's highly likely that I will need the full bone graft at some point. So....on this occasion I only had to endure a short stay of three days in hospital as opposed to the 14 days I had planned for. Cancer never really leaves you and the knock on effects continue to feature in your life even when in remmision. Still......I think I have a postive mental attitude towards it all now and this was certainly nowhere near as bad as all the radiotherapy That I had to endure back in 2003. That really was tough. I get the feeling that most of my future postings will be coming from a PC in Thailand in the future. I will spend as much time there as possible if things work out with a suitable apartment purchase. I hope everyone is coping well with their own personal issues and that you keep strong in body and in mind. Bless you all Steve |
