Sorry to hear you feel so lousy Paul and hope things improve soon for you.

Re your windsurfing question - My husband used to windsurf a lot. I believe he went on a course 25 years ago and which has stood him in good stead when we go on holidays. My husband says you need to learn on a lake in UK. There are plenty of such places in uk and an internet search will help.

One tip I can give you is to wear waterproof sandals with rotproof straps to help keep a grip on the board. I bought some for him from Clarks for him about 10 years ago and he said they were really helpful on the feet maintaining a grip on the board that feet uncovered just cannot do as boards sometimes get slippery from sun lotions.

If you can't find a Clarks brand I believe Marks and Spencer now do something similar in the footwear line with beach stuff which should still be around at this time of year.

http://www.outdoorstaff.co.uk/links/wind.html This looked like an informative list of links but quite afew are not working but you need to check some out as some are. This one was ok http://www.boards.co.uk/main/index.asp and gave agood link to beginners http://www.boards.co.uk/articles/index.asp?article_type=3 .

Go for it. My beloved says it is a wonderful experience floating on the water when a drift of wind catches you.

windsurfing is reported to be great fun, although I have heard that it often takes a lot out of you when you're learning, continually getting on the board until you get it right, in the right conditions - hope that you're one of the lucky ones that get the hang of it quickly. Howsabout taking a little sailing dinghy out? similar thrills, but not so tiring (unless you're racing I heard that sand-yachting is very close to windsurfing, but don't know anyone that's tried it.

look forward to hearing how you get on.

Look Well to This Day

Paul just earlier today was chatting to my husband again about this idea of yours and I wondered how you would fare windsurfing with feeling less strong than in the past.

Husband says having a good sense of balance can be more important than strength when on a board. He said you need more strength if you have poorer balance. The deck sandals I mentioned help with balance and board grip on wet surfaces.

I think you should do it. Having aims shows you have a strong will to move on. Good Luck.

Pauline thanks for taking the time with the information.
I am under the weather at the moment just had my biopsy in my mouth today and feel rough.

I have to be honest it was the most terriflying biopsy of them all
I am not sure what was going on in my head but I felt quite cool when i went in but as soon as he said "I am going to numb it now I started shaking like mad.
My heart was pumping like crazy and all the Doctor said and the Nurse "you have had them before"
My mind was clear but my body wa just shaking like hell I was scared I was having a heart attack to be honest Roll Eyes
I dont know why it hit me like that :banghead: Now I am resting at home and tired out.
No windsurfing today for me Smiler
