These doctors are outrageous. The first time Bill went (Nov 06) told doc about constant sore throat, being unable to clear viscose throat, ullcerated tongue he was given antibiotics. When things didnt get better he was told cant have any more antibiotics. Went again in Feb after being told by a work colleague who had had polyps in his voice box and told him he needed to see an ENT specialist. Saw another locum Doc (older gentleman) who then referred him.

Angie

PS Tony, lets hear the other 'you couldn't make em up' stories

Good Evening to everyone,
Couldn't believe all the bad stories of these Doctors out there!! Kathleen we were very lucky with our GP he was the one who insisted on doing more and more tests on Darrel to see what was wrong with him and his throat. When most of the tests came back clear Darrel even said to him I'm sorry for wasting your time I'm feeling alright now so I guess we will see. Lucky for him our GP said no, and sent him off for a biopsy of the throat, then thats when the fun began. The Surgeon Darrel was then sent to was a wonderful young man and told us how lucky we were that our Dr continued to investigate because so many others just keep giving their patients tablets for a throat infection and by the time things get worse it makes it harder for the surgeons and r/t, Chemo Dr's to do what they have to do. We even then sent our GP a lovely bottle of red wine to thank him with all our hearts for what he did, and would not hesitate to recommend him to all our friends and loved ones, which alot are now going to him. I must say though now that treatment is over I feel disappointed with our r/t Dr, it is now ok I'm finished with you and basically have to fend for yourself, again thank goodness for our GP.
Since finding this site I have been able to help Darrel with his night and morning problems
and we now take anti-inflamatories, prop the pillows up and our Dr has also just given him some Prednisone (25g) to take one per day for 3 days and he said this should help his swelling and pain for a few weeks, after the first day with this Darrel's throat has improved quite dramatically. With your legs I have found taking Magnisium tablets have stopped that awful wandering, restless leg, again it might not help you but it does for us, everyone can be different. He hasn't had to have the morphine patch or medication for sometime now although when he has pain he takes pain killers which are available over the counter, like panadol, neurofen etc.
I hope this helps with some information and I wish you the best of luck with your Doctor woes, wish you could get to go to a new one. I cannot believe you have to go through that attitude or Michelle with her Doctor when you both have enough to deal with, how dare they!!
Regards Tracey

Hi Angiebaby

It makes you wonder, it does seem that us head & neck guys seem to have problems with dr giving you the run around. I hope that Bill is making a good recovery inspite of all the problems.

NHS is really good if you get to see the right person and can be really bad for your health if you happen to see the wrong person, I beleive that the second biggest killer in the NHS is the NHS some 70,000 death were put down problems within the NHS (I am sure that I read that somewhere, if I am wrong then sorry NHS).

The people I saw at Hull ENT were very good, but I did have a not so funny run around with another consultant I had a bad bleed from the rear end, he was straight out of "carry on doctor", in the end I had to go private and pay to see another consultant now waiting for the test results hoping nothing else has gone wrong.

Anyway I am glad that we do have a NHS.

regards

Tony

Hi all

I have just re-read my last posting, I must be suffering from chemobrain so many spelling mistakes, the finger seem to work but the brain seems to have lost the plot.

It good to hear that tracylee dr turned out to be a good one, I hope that Darrel making a good recovery amazing that he got away with panadol as his pain killer, you aussie's are tough.

Thanks for the info regarding magnisium tabs, I think that the leg wandering is more related to the chemo effects when you stop the pain killers the old legs seem to wander around when you are trying to get some sleep.

regards

Tony @ Kathy
