Things are moving along nicely Pauline.I have now progressed to little tins of spahgetti or beans with sausages. They sausages are soft enough to get down.I still need to swallow with the help of water but the acidic taste of the sauce is quite nice.
I have also reduced my fortysips intake to three a day , replacing one of them with hot milk and a banana I have been back to the docs and he prescribed me a very short course off steriods to help me along, Also for dry mouth he presribed me Gladnosane Lemon Spray for my mouth which works quite well Each week gets better |

Hi Robert I replied about some fluids in another thread not having seen this reply. Yes I bet you never thought you'd get excited about baked beans and fake sausages! I could not believe I was enjoying them. You'll soon be on thin Richmond sausages.
I can't cope with tinned spaghetti I find it slimy, but it does remind me that one of my coping foods is the fresh pasta 4 cheese ravioli in tomato sauce from Marks and Spencers. I just warm 4 or 5 pieces in the micro. One carton makes about 3 mini meals! The asparagus lasagne they do is also worth a try and they do a vegetarian moussaka. May be bit early for that for you as it has some puy lentils ( choke choke).... I never want to see another fortysip or liquid meal ever! Try the biotene gel for the mouth too. |

Robert
Great as things start to get better isn't it? I finished R/T at the end of last October, and now I can eat almost anything as long as it isn't too dry! Taste buds still aren't too keen on wine or getting too much chilli, but otherwise most food is appreciated. Lost the saliva glands on one side, but the other side is now compensating to a noticeable extent. I hope this encourages you; it is only by reading this forum that I'm reminded how tricky things were last year. |
