Pimple on roof of mouth

Hi, I am what i consider a heavy smoker I woke up today in the morning and discovered one pimple on the roof of my mouth, near the back. This has me more then a bit worried (i'm freaking out). I picked at it in the morning and it poped, now it is just like a lump where it was on my mough. I would say it is .5 cm in diameter. I have inclosed a bad picture, the area where the pimple is, is circled. The pimple did not really hurt. I just noticed it with my tonge and poped it with my nail, now it is a bit sore when I brush my tongue by it, but nothing you would call pain.

I also have a bit of a cold right now, not sure if that will help but I will put it out there.

ANyways should I be worried about cancer or is this something else. Since i poped it, I am not sure if I should go to a doctor or wait, a day.

went to the doctor, told me to stop smoking and gave me a prescription. He said to come back if it does not heal in a week

Hi Sergey

You have done the right thing in seeing your doctor. The pimple that popped could have been a blocked minor salivary or sebacous gland or infection. Mouth cancers don't present as a pimple that pops. Let us know how it turns out.

Soapbox Do stop smoking and be vigilant, it can only do you good. Smiler

Best wishes

thank you so much, I was jumping all over the walls. Thank you for the piece of mind. My doctor gave me a prescription for penicilin. I think it is to aid in the fight against the infection.

Once again thank you very much Dr Vinod K Joshi.

Sincerely Sergey,

No longer as worried Smiler
