Debi, In my opinion and experience it will do. I am assuming you had a radical neck dissection. It was absolute murder for the first 6 months but i think the key thing is to be active and to use those muscles around the neck and shoulder.I am right handed and the RND was on my right side of the neck. I have been doing a very physical warehouse job for 2 years and it has been my physiotherapy. I suffer discomfort but I can put that into the background during everyday life. It has been 5 and a half years since surgery and I am more concerned with the side effects of radiotherapy (teeth etc)than with my shoulder/neck at the moment. Good luck Tony K

Good Evening Debi, Most people have some sort of discomfort. Normally this will slowly subside with time. I am now more than six years on from the surgery and I still have to take a couple of paracetamol once in a while. Most people benefit from either the exercises which you would be given when you left hospital , or from physio but some of us don't respond to either, I was given quite a hefty course of anti inflammatory medication and this worked very well. Next time you are at Maxfax for a check up tell them about your problem. Keep Smiling John

Dear All re the neck, I am five years on, but the neck, difficult backing the car, locks now and again, and feel as though I have been hit on the side of the head with a cricket bat first thing in the morning, also wait about an hour and then my right nostril leaks like a tap, neck is always rock hard.
