Everyone here will understand how I felt when I discovered a yellow lesion on my tonsil. I haven't mentioned it before but you know what I thought it was !! Anyway, after several GP trips, antibiotics, etc. etc. I finally saw a specialist this week who has diagnosed a retention cyst, which requires no further action other than monitoring. It could get bigger, it could disappear. We discussed removing my tonsils, but dismissed that. I am going back just before Christmas, but meanwhile just monitoring. I smiled when said that - talk about preaching to the converted

Thank goodness your alright Winnie. I have often ventured to say on these pages but thought it sounded a bit me, me, me, I wonder how many other 'carers' have had sympathy symptoms. Several times during our journey, I have thought, oh my god, I've got it too. Perhaps its like giving birth, when sometimes the husband suffers labour pains too!

Also, I thought that a lot of people come on here with various lumps and bumps in the mouth obviously fearing the worst, but it doesn't always turn out to be what we fear. I just hope it gives some people a bit of peace of mind.

Hi Winnie, What a fright for you. We have lots of people come in to the practice with lumps and bumps, sores and odd things. In the thirty years I have been there, we have had about four people with something more serious so very unusual. Glad all ok with you. L o L Joan xx
