Hi guys, I heard on Sky news about PDT and been reading the website.
In one way its very good news for people with many forms of Cancers and could have been implimented years ago. I am told they are doing it at UCH London where I had my op.. What worries me is what about the people whos had the radical surgery will we be forgotten and left behind. you can read this at www.killingcancer.org.uk your thought please. Hi Paul
I think there will probably always be people who need radical surgery as well as those who can be treated by PDT. Although it is always good to have another option for treatment and it does look promising. When my cancer was first diagnosed two years ago I was too scared to find out much about it, but my husband, Pete, found out about PDT on the web and tried to persuade me to get an opinion as to whether this would be suitable for me. My surgeon was willing to refer me, but didn't think PDT would be appropriate for my tumour. I didn't go for the assessment as I was feeling so anxious and just thought it would delay things, and I also wanted to have a neck dissection (which my surgeon was recommending) to find out if I had any lymph nodes affected. I don't know if I would make the same decision now, with hindsight. It is good that people are researching and coming up with new treatments but I think doctors are often quite conservative and stick with the treatments they know. Best wishes Gwyn |

Hi Gyn, Thanks for repling nice to get someone elses view.
I too had to have neck discetion as the Cancer had gone from my mouth to my neck so guess it would not have been appropiate for me. Paul |
