Is it possible to quit smoking through natural methods, I mean without using those nicotine patch or medications. I don’t have much faith in medications.

Yes, of course it's possible.

I did it. You just have to get your mind in the right place and stop putting the dam things in your mouth. It's worth every bit of effort you can muster.

Hi.

I don't know if it's considered "natural" but my mom used hypnosis to quit smoking. It's been nearly fifteen years and she's still not smoking.

Another method you might want to consider is using baking soda. It can change your body chemistry slightly, making you crave tobacco less. (www.qualitylibrarybooks.com; no I don't work for them)

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Definately possible to give up naturally but as winnie says, you have to get your mind in the right place. Good luck with it. Hagg.

Ask yourself why am I smoking, what are the advantages, are there any whatsoever. Or is this subject clear, why do it. Budha teaches you to blank such elements of desire and craving so the thought goes away, reduces suffereing.

I gave up about 6 years ago and haven't had a drag since. For me it was about changing routine as I think smoking for me was more about ritual and routine than nicotine addiction. I went away on holiday for a week which involved a change and that enabled me to take the initial step. I didn't put undue pressure on myself like saying I was never going to have another cigarette and just gave it a go which may have stopped me obsessing about the fact I was trying to stop.

I know this won't work for everyone but I think it much be very hard to take the initial step without some other change in routine.

Good luck!

Making someone quit smoking is a very difficult thing. It is completely up to the person to quit the habit. One requires a strong will and desire to quit. These are not the only factors. You may find very interesting tips to quit smoking, do follow the link http://www.stop-smoking-guru.com . This site is completely dedicated to stop smoking and I personally think it will certainly help.
All the Best

I used Wellbutrin to stop smoking and it worked for me after years of attempting and failing at other methods (patch, gum, hypnosis, cold turkey, etc.,). I was in the right mind-set at the right time to have the Wellbutrin 'work.' Well, maybe that pesky cancer business had something to do with it too.

Quite a few people have success with Allen Carr's method which price-wise involves nothing more than buying a book which you can get new or used. Here's the amazon link:

Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking

You can also google allen carr for his Wiki link, program descriptions, message boards, etc.

Good luck to you!

Now that I reread this thread I'm wondering if this isn't a troll/sock situation.

I'm sorry to cause confusion!

The troll is usually one who signs on and creates an antagonistic atmosphere (you people are stupid, all doctors are quacks, etc.,) or in this case signs on asking a question that he will later answer under a different username. This second 'new person' in net lingo is a sock puppet. In this thread the newbie asks if there's a natural way to quit smoking, then using his sock name gives us a link to a website that advertises a natural method (for a fee of course). The person is male, from California (or Canada!), does not have cancer, joined our club on two consecutive days, Feb. 26th and 27th. Yup. Sock.

What's more fun is when they sign on with a volatile opinion; for example, Obama is the anti-Christ. Members chime in to say the poster is wrong (or is an idiot) and then the sock jumps in to back up the original poster.

Pathetic.

Thanks for the heads-up, Mimi. I'd never heard of "troll/sock"--but then my knowledge of a lot of stuff on the net is pretty weak.
