Dear Kat, I'd just about finished writing a long screed to you re Anger, when it disapeared off the screen! Dont you just hate it when that happens?
Anger is a very normal reaction to something that happens to us over which we have no control.A diagnosis of cancer makes us feel our body has let us down & this is compounded by having to submit ourselves to people we dont know, for treatments which are worse than the cancer itself in many cases Anger is part of the Bereavement process( Shock, Anger,Grief, Acceptance). we go through as our "normal life" is changed forever. Some people take longer to work through this process than others. Your Mum is understandably distressed by her/late misdiagnosis. Im sorry she has'nt had sufficient help from the Mc Millan nurse & the clinics do appear rushed at times. But in my experience, the Doctors will give you their time if you request it. I would advise you to make an appointment through the Consultants secretary outwith the clinic times. Have your questions written down & if you dont understand the answers, ask them to explain again.Write down the answers so you can discuss them when you get home. The Docs would rather have a happy patient, than an unhappy one. Is there a Maggies Centre where you are? The staff there are experienced in cancer care & would make you very welcome Best wishes to you both. |
