Dear all,
My son - the elder one who is now 19 suddenly started getting pain on his left side of the body and though I did not give it too much importance - we took him to the hospital and he was admitted right away and that too in the ICU! Sonya was crying and my mum fainted - guess one does faint when its a grandson - noone fainted for me!!!Frowner

We found out that his left lung was ruptured and it was very serious as it could have led to the other lung also deciding to shut down, which would make the heart move out from its normal place.

This was four days ago. Well - he was operated on without any waiting - just a few tests and open the slit the side and push a tube ( a large one!!) to drain out the liquids collected. We were really lucky as the surgeon who operated is a very dear family friend.
Well - he was really scared and was tears most of the time and I like an idiot could not understand why the tube was making his so scared. Guess even though he is my son he never ever dreamt of having this kind of a thing happening as it is not a normal thing to happen. The rupture took place because of his workouts (he is as addicted as I am/was) and burst when he suddenly coughed.
The story now is that - he can sit up and eat normal food but sit up only on his bed and no visitors or talking on the cell phone. My younger Son Arjun who used to keep complaining about not being allowed to drive is completely fed up as of now!!!.
As Sonya is working for a great Company and on a very senior post could not take too much leave and so that left me and I think I did pretty well. We would spend all day watching movies or surfing the net - he on Sonyas bed and I on mine and the two laptops. He is feeling much better now and should be up and about in about ten days time.
Thats all for now,
with lots of love,
Ananth

Ananth,

sure am glad to hear that your son is on the mend. he will have to pay more attention to what is doing and avoid those extreme workouts.

as we have talked about in the past if something happens to us, so be it, we have lived a good life. however, when our children or young friends go through an experience like this, it is life shattering ....... they haven't had the years to experience life....

later, pete

OMG (typical American response)! That sure was a scare. My son is also a workout fiend and could not imagine this happening to him. Sometimes when he does get hurt (plays American high school football) I don't think much of it and later on wonder. I wish him the best. It's probably nice spending so much time with him although too bad it had to be this way. I'm sure he appreciates it.

Dear Pete,
You cannot imagine how great I feel to hear from you. Even though you are really fighting you still have your shoulders and chin up and thats a sign of a brave person who likes to win.

Yes,we have talked in the past about our wild days and the repercussions it could have on the kids before they actually grow up.The b problem as I see it that he is as addicted to working out as I was and works really hard more for staying in a great shape but not a muscle kind of a joker. I have asked him to tone it down once he resarts and have also spoken to our trainer.Howver, this one is adamant and once he decides on something he just does not let go.

He has seen me going through hell and I imagine feels that it was my really pushing to the limits workouts that got me through and he wants to make sure in the event something should happen.Anyway - its nice to see him relax, take thing easy, create some wierd softwares and working on his computers. He has learnt the art of hacking but is an ethical hacker and he helps the cops when they come to him with any related problems. Thanks to him - even I have learnt how to hack - but again I am an ethical one.

Will sed you a lon mail later.

With tons of love and hugs,
Ananth

Dear Noemi,
Aologies for not having writte earlier. I can imagine the walloping you son must be taking playing football and bet he is really as strong as a bull.
Its a rare thing that happened and though itis totally related to the unrelenting workouts that he has become a part of - we also understand that very tall people at times do have this problem. If that is so - well he is now 6.5 and still growing. Its a nightmare the way he is growing and so is junior who has crossed the 6.3 mark!! I have to look upto them to talk and its funny when we go out and these two guys athe elder with his styled beard call me Dad. You should see the looks we all get and how many ask us who is who and if I am really their Dad!!!

Now that he is under house arrest - his car and bike are both getting a well deserved rest whereas junior is making merry by purposely taking his car (his own) and keeps on at him, He also goes down and revs his bike,

I have been keepig him company and as I told Pete - the things he is upto!! Hacking apart - he has downloaded every and I mean every radio stations there are in the wolrd onto his phone (he has a 6 gb card!)and he can really zap people with the same. Its good to have such great sons.

Weln Noemi. will certainly keep in touch as you are very special and will always be so.
With lots of love, kisses andhugs.
Ananth
