Not that any one can answer this (unless you are logging in from Ireland as a guest and I don't know it) but just to let you know I'm not really very cross, I'm very p***** off with RTE TV. Bomb Bomb Bomb A channel we get in Ireland. Still behind the times here and RTE rules!
I don't watch much TV but in a moment of boredom switched on a few weeks ago and noticed that they were doing a program on cancer. It caught my attention so I kept a look out for trailers which showed which type of cancer they would be showing next.
Anyway I watched a few programs, was waiting for the one where it showed in the trailer the guy screwed to the RT table in his mask and getting his treatment (obviously us who have been there know the story) when it struck me and I was so bloody disgusted. They (throught the programme) were all private patients!!!!!!
I am so mad I could spit (yeah more than usual, Hi Paul!)
The programme fair enough highlighted all types of cancer and I'm sorry to say but not "OUR" type, not enough. It was shown as very rare and on top of that the private treatment was nothing to what we experience!
Appologies to anyone on the site who can afford private care but it is just not the same as the ordinary "Joe Soap".
It has really annoyed me. Now when I explain to people why I look and sound as I do, they are going to think, if they saw it on TV, that I received the same sort of treatment!

I have not once seen any sort of awarenes advertisement for head and neck cancer over here, only that which my consultant has a seminar for his patients every six months. He is great, really tries and cares but does not have the time/resources to do anymore than he does.

Sod my ego, I know I'm not the only one over here who has gone through this and has made great progress. I've been dithering about if I can/should raise awareness here about it, thinking maybe I should pull in the horns and not get too full of myself/up my own bum but as far as I can see no one else is and the TV thing was so out of context it was unreal!

If there is anyone in Ireland that would like to help but is not a member on the site or does not want to be, either please join or get in touch with Dr Vinod so he can pass on details.
Vinod, will talk to you soon. Will appreciate and need your help.

Very difficult, when Liz talked about campaigning because of the government lack lustre response to the finance for H & N C victims, there would need to be a big load of commitment from a lot of people, plus we would need a literate, sharp person (DWR would be ideal– without Attila the Hun attitude Lol but unfortunately has his own problems at present) who would commit full time for the cause and although I know we are all stalwarts here, It would take one hell of a person to commit both time and energy to such a feat.
