Hi grandmom
Sessile means the nodule (lump) has a broad, short base i.e it is raised above the surface. I would not get worried about it being a cancer - gingival nodules are common. Have a llok at (Figs. 1.55 and 1.56) of Normal Findings and Structures Mistaken for Disease.
