That spelling is wrong, no doubt, but that's what the dentist I went to said I have.
There is a small bump on my inner-left jaw under my tongue, just below my teeth (right up near where the jaw starts below the teeth). The dentist said this thing - something that sounded like "mandidilia torrae" - is very rare, and is nothing to worry about. Does anyone have any further information on it? I've been unable to find anything on the internet, probably because I've crucified the spelling. Thanks. |

Hello Gnote
The word is Mandibular Torus (Torus Mandibularis): In some people, little bumps are found on the attached gingivae of the mandible. These are normal structures in these individuals, they may regress with age, require no treatment, but may be mistaken for disease. Torus mandibularis, bony hyperplasia on the lingual surface of the mandible, are most commonly found in the premolar area. It may be single or multiple, uni- or bilateral. It does not cause symptoms. Some normal bumps are shown at Examination Technique with Normal Findings and Structures Mistaken for Disease. - look at Fig. 1.53 and Fig. 1.54. Hope that helps. Best wishes Vinod Disclaimer: Please see your own dentist/doctor for a proper diagnosis as my words should not, in any circumstances, be taken as dental/medical advice.
