hard lump in upper lip

Hi, I've been reading posts for a couple days now about various mucoceles, etc. and how alot of lip lumps are caused by "traumas" and was wondering if waxing your upper lip could be a similar lump causing "trauma".
About 3 months ago, after starting to wax my upper lip at home with those at home wax strips, i noticed a small, hard lump in my upper lip. When i say in, i mean, it's literally inside the the lip, not on the side of my lip that's inside my mouth...if that makes any sense. You also can't see it unless i tuck my lip under my top front teeth, as if you were going to look at a pimple in the mirror. when i do this, you then see the small bulge under the skin. I'd say it's probably about the size of a beebee, and if i pinch my lip where the lump is, i can feel it from both the bottom and top of my lip. I don't believe i can see anything however from the underside of the lip (no red/white dots) I didn't think anything of it when i first saw it because I had just started waxing my upper lip and figured it was an ingrown hair or something. But now that it hasn't gone away, i'm getting kinda scared. It hasn't grown in size at all, and it doesn't hurt or bother me at all, but it doesn't appear to be going away either, unfortunately.

Could it be some kind of cyst or mucocele or abscess or something caused by an infected in grown hair from the waxing?

I don't have any insurance right now because i'm in transition from one job to another, and so am nervous about what kind of costs could be in store for me if i go get it checked out by a doctor. would it be dangerous to wait until i have insurance again in 3 months or so? or if i should get it checked out, if they do run tests on it to see if it's cancerous, what kind of economic damages could i be looking at?

Thanks for any insight/advice anyone could give me on this, i'm really starting to freak out a little. Thanks!!

Hello mli22

The small lump within the upper lip that you can feel might be a salivary or sebaceous gland swelling up. A cancer in the upper lip is rare. So, you could probably wait until you can afford to se the doctor if there is no change in size. If it increases in size, you might have to sell your body and run to your doctor! Lol

Let us know how you get on.

Best wishes
