Hi! I'm kind of a chronic worrier, and now I have something new to worry about. About one week ago I discovered this hard purple bump in my mouth. I don't know the medical name for its position, but it's right beneath my lower gums. When I pull out my lower lip you can see it in the left corner. It hurts when I press my tongue against it and overall feels like there is a lil foreign body in my mouth. I can feel it when I press a finger to my chin, through the skin. My doctor has recommended I get my wisdom teeth taken out, as they are growing in a way that may cause infection. I haven't done this yet and when I sleep I bite the sides of my mouth. There are constant striations there (raised lines of skin). I don't smoke and only drink about once a week- or say 5 drinks a week at most. I'm in my mid 20s. I recently moved to Japan. I've been here about two months now. Things are different here. Maybe I haven't been so good with my oral cleanliness. I'm really worried about what this bump may be. I would like to see a doctor, but it is somewhat difficult as I don't speak Japanese and don't know how to set up an appt. here. Could you please help me? I prefer honesty. If this is something I should get checked out sooner than later please let me know. Thank you so much!

Hello rinnetensei It is not possible to make a diagnosis based on the information given. I suggest you watch it and if gets bigger or hurts, go and see a dentist. Hi, Doctor! Thanks for the reply. I will be sure to keep an eye on the bump. So far it appears to be the same size and feels more or less like a hard zit inside of my mouth. It hurts, but only when touched. Thanks again, and I'll try not to worry over it.
