Staci, it's just not worth worrying don't be a prat - go and see a dentist. It's probably nothing but for God's sake go and find out.

What's the old saying about better the devil you know .....

Let's know how you go on, or at least sound off at me.

Staci - On Monday morning go to your doctor or dentist. They will either reassure you or at least record your symptoms and ask you back in two weeks carrying out what is known as watchful waiting. If it is something to worry about you will be observing it and getting it medically recorded at a very early stage and that is important.

You cannot do anything about it between now and Monday so stop fretting, stop looking at it in the mirror, stop poking at it and try to be calmer. Then be pro active on Monday and be outside your dentist or docs at 8.30.

Good luck - let us know how it comes out. By the way never feel daft about having a spot or lump checked. I've recently had a muscle in my armpit checked - turns out they think one side is more muscular than the other, but I worried and fretted just like you for a week, but with my previous cancer diagnosis it is important to always watch and know your body.

There is only a fine line between careful observation and paranoia. We all know how worried you must feel, but for the next day or so calm down and then get it checked.

thanx guys ur all really helpfull im a bit calmer now after talking to a doctor online he said that its very very unlikley at my age seen as i dont have any red or white patches anywhere in my mouth , dont have a persistant sore throte or anything like that apart from the lump which is the size of a matchstick head , but he did say that what i was describing sounds pretty much like herpes of the mouth basicly coldsores which made me feel lots better he told me to try some over the counter herpe cream, pills and if it didnt go away then to see a dr. but i had a little 1 like this on the side of my tongue a few months ago and i put some baby bonjella on it and within 7 hours it had dissapeared so im also going to try that. thanks again ppl

Well that's really good news Staci - better lay off the necking for a while! Let us know what the doctor prescribes for you part from the restricted kissing... Wink

What a kind friend of your mum to do that for you when he is off work. I hope you told him about the rdoc forum.

Good luck.

Hi Staci

That's geat news, but oral herpes is still a pain in the mouth! If you wish to know more, follow this Oral Herpes Simplex Infections link.

:soapbox: Could I suggest that you stop smoking. It is the simplest and most effective health step you could take! There is plenty of information on how to go about it in the Tobacco Risk section of the website.

Best wishes
