Hello. I used to usesnuff for several years. Two days ago, I woke up with two small white dots on the left side of my tongue that hadn't been there the day before. What's more worrisome is that it is painful, and the pain just began overnight, so to speak. My question is... I've been reading about those who've developed tongue cancer and I'm wondering if: 1) Does a painful spot on the mouth happen "just like that?" 2) The two white dots are about one millimeter apart with a bit of swelling around the area. Of course, I'm scheduling an appointment with a specialist referred by my dentist. I inspect my mouth every day before brushing my teeth and these symptoms weren't there the day before. Any help would be appreciated!

Hello snuffuser They could be the very early stages of mouth ulcers. Most ulcers heal within about two weeks, so the general advice is to only get concerned if it doesn't heal past three weeks. Hope that helps. Do let us know how you get on. Thank you for your response, Doctor Joshi. I will definitely advise on my progress here as soon as I follow up with a local specialist! Again, much sincere thanks.
