Hard lump beneath lower lip inside mouthGo ![]() | New ![]() | Find ![]() | Notify ![]() | Tools ![]() | Reply ![]()
Hello All, For the past few days I've become aware of a small lump right below my lower lip on the inside of my mouth. The lump is beneath the surface and not visible as a bump. I can readily feel it with my tongue or my top lip if I make a "pouty face", but I have a hard time feeling it with my finger. Using a bit of pressure, I can run the curved edge of a paper clip over the lump and can tell that it is very hard and that it is around 1/16" in size. Any thoughts on what this could be? Thanks, Fred

Hello Fred It is difficult to make a diagnosis over the Internet. Suffice to say that you don't seem to be describing a mouth cancer. It might be a sebaceous gland (Fordyce granule) but I really could not say. Please see your dentist and ask him/her to tell you what the lump is. Meanwhile try not to worry too much about it. Do let us know how you get on. Best wishes Vinod Disclaimer: Please see your own dentist/doctor for a proper diagnosis as my words should not, in any circumstances, be taken as dental/medical advice.
