Suse...
Did you say lots of calories to put on weight??
& have you??
I've lost half a stone this week where i've been working extra in the salon - forgetting my lunch (who needs food when you're running on adrennalin Wink) & shivvering my butt off in the shop.
Can't believe you're still strugling with this infection. I think you've had more than your fair share crap now, dont you??
I got really dizzy when my weight as low too. Low blood preassure apparently. Being dehydrated is a contributing factor. Still... with this time off i hope you've been filling your face with good things to eat!
Keep your chin up, you're doing us proud!
Michelle

Hi Ange/Chelle,

Running around packing my case-yeah I'm off into hosp again tomorrow. Bugger, Bugger, Bugger!
Need intravenous anti b's for two weeks 4 x day and then four weeks oral. I am pig sick to say the least, two steps forward, three back. It seems never ending.
They are putting the problem down to bone necrosis and /or dead bone floating around in there. Will be having a scan while I'm in there to find out. It looks very likely that another op is on the cards but can't determine until the infection has cleared. I'm well and truly pee'd off with it now. I don't even know if I can go through another op at this stage. If it's necrosis that's more of my jaw to go, I don't think I can do it!!!!!
Oh! back to the joys of hospital food too, not going to put on any weight in the next two weeks!!!
What have you been up to lately Angie?
Know you Chelle have been busy with the shop, hows it going? and DO NOT forget your lunch. You are going to need all the grub you can get for energy!

Will post again when I find out whats going on with my chops.

Hi there Susie
I'm sorry I'm not too good at putting words together but I can't not say something in response to this last post of yours.
If anyone has the right to feel pee'd off, it's you. Just what else is going to be thrown at you? And yet through it all you maintain your sense of humour and keep on rolling.
I guess you have no option but you really are a trooper, Susie. I take my hat off to your guts and tenacity. Hang in there girl and fight with all you can muster. I can appreciate your doubt at being able to go through even more #*&$ but we'll all be out here sending all our positives vibes your way and really, I mean REALLY look forward to hearing from you soon.
Lots of Aussie love
Deborah
PS Has your brother told you that he met my niece? He came to her work and asked after her Auntie Deb and Uncle Trev and how are we getting on. It really threw her for a six as she didn't know of our connection. LOL.
What a teeny weeny world we all live in.

Hello Susie

Sorry to hear about the suspected jaw bone infection problem. Don't loose hope. Think of it as a marathon and sometimes there are hills to climb. Get the jaw sorted out and then worry about the reconstruction. I heard a good surgeon talk earlier this week at a meeting in Scotland and was impressed by what can be done. So chin up and look forward to the next downhill run.

We are all here to cheer you on and I am at the water station.

Best wishes

Hi! I have had the PEG for 7 yrs.
WHEN YOUR FOLEY STARTS TO HURT INSIDE, IT NEEDS IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT.
I usually change the Foley every 2 mo. Yes, when you pull it out the pain is excruciating --for about 5 sec. You simply need to remain focused. Spray in some Cetacaine. Insert your new Foley. Inject your desired fluid level into the Foley (I prefer a sterile saline solution). Now, the Foley usually seeps, so I use a tiny clamp for security, and then wrap some tissue around it and then tuck it under my left bra line.
Through Medicare, Ensure+ and whatever sides (sponges, Foleys, syringes) are sent to me directly. I just call when supplies are needed. I would be dead now but for Ensure+.
They cut off much of my tongue & removed all of my teeth. Well, I have dentures, but I am not able to chew anything.
All for tonight.
Terry Anne.

From Terry Anne again----
To prevent the tube being suctioned back into the stomach, I use a 2" window suction cup that has been seared open with whatever to the right width that provides adequate stability. 4 yrs. ago the stomach ate the tube. While asleep, the water bulb passed into the small intestine. No joke. A screaming banshee. Obviously I took care of that matter and then rigged up a system to prevent future occurences. --Doing fine to this day.
Also, I started with Size 18. Recently I went to Size 20. I prefer this size.

Take care, Terry Anne.

HELLO PEG PROBLEM.

In regards to the PEG TUBE, I have encountered so many variables to address this issue. You and I are finally trying to reach out for further education as we also try to offer statistics to provide reseachers with those fine points that hopefully benefit future generations.

Does the area sting?
Does it ooze blood?
Does it feel like the tube is being sucked back into the tummy?
Does one little burp lead into a 1-6 min. heave session at the sink? A side tumbler of baking soda will help at times. (Little glass, water & 1t soda does wonders.)
I change the Foley by myself about every 1 1/2 mos. --No big deal when you get used to it.

When it REALLY hurts, the tube is rotten which may lead to very serious complications.
