Bump/Tag on roof of Mouth

I noticed, about a week ago, a small bump on the roof of my mouth. Its about half way back on the crease between the roof of mouth and where the gum starts. I can't see it, but with my tongue it feels about the size of the tip of a ballpoint pen. I can bend it with the tip of my fingernail, Not painful to the touch. I had some spicy chinese food a couple of hours before I first noticed it, thought it might be a reaction to the food. As I said it's been almost a week and I have not noticed any change in it. Any thoughts on what it might be and how long I should give it before I seek medical attention??
Thanks

Hi ATR

Just wondering if your bump is behind your upper front teeth. There is a natural bump there called the incisive papilla. On occasion, it does swell, especially if you burn it eg. with a hot drink or pizza...or even your spicy chinese perhaps.

I wouldn't be too worried. Usually warm salt water mouthwashes (gargled 4-5 times daily) should soothe it and it natually goes down after a week or two.

I would still advise to go to your dentist, even if it is just for reassurance. Let is know how it goes :P

Best wishes

Not behind front teeth. The bump is on the right side of the roof of my mouth. About an 1 1/2 inces back. Should 2 weeks be the maximum I wait to see if it goes down on its own?

I would suggest that you see your dentist for his opinion.

Let us know what he/she says.
