My brother has a cancerous ulcer removed from under his tongue on monday and had skin taken from his forearm to cover the hole, it was a 12 hour operation and he's now back in the ward.I rang the hospital this morning and they said he's still quite poorly but didn't say nothing else.Im worried sick because i cant get to my brother until monday as i live 6oo miles away.Is it normal to be quite poorly after surgery like this? The nurses wouldn't tell me much.

I just wanted to say safe travels to you when you go visit your brother on Monday - I wish I could give more advice about the "poorly" description but I can say the procedures and treatments can be quite draining - I dont know what his health was before the cancer but I am sure seeing you wil help his attitude - keep the stiff upper lip even when you want to scream - just be there for him.....

My husband had a similar surgery. He was unable to talk due to feeding tubes in his nose and a tracheotomy. He was also very groggy and tired. All of this was normal and he came out of it. Don't worry to much. Though I am surprised they would tell you he was poor and then refuse to elaborate. I would have fliped my lid. Kudos to you!
