Polyp on vocal cords

during my regular checkup, ENT doc told me that he saw a smoothness in the bottom of the "V" like section of my vocal cords. doesn't know if is attached to both sides. so back into the minor day surgery for me. if it is not attached to both sides he will whack it off. if it is attached to both sides, then he will just cut on one side and after it heals go back and cut the other side off. explained that if he cut both sides at the same time that they could fuse together during the heal process (not his exact words).

went on to discuss that this may be why i am not able to talk most of the time.

so once again will be on pins and needles awaiting the surgery and the results of the biopsy.

not going to drag it out. i expect the surgery in the next week or 2.

Pete,

Am glad that maybe there's a relatively easy way to correct your inability to speak sometimes. Who knew that all this stuff existed before it happened to us? Things like "a smoothness in the bottom of the "V" like section of my vocal cords," makes me crazy...

Best of luck to you. Pleeeze keep us posted!

Mimi

well this certainly could be the reason for not having the voice.....thinking the best thoughts for you SmilerSmiler I grew a lump on m vocal cords after I had some thyroid surgery and it turns out to be blob of thyroid - they biopsied it several times and still thyroid tissue so they left my alone since it doesnt effect my voice but it is funny cos I can feel it when I swallow - I have a lump in my throat at all times...

let us know about the biopsy and more about the surgery when you know...good you went for your check up!!!

thanks for your support and quick replies. lowered my anxiety for a few minutes. ROFL

yesterday a.m. i was on my way to visit my 90 year old dad and checked in with the nurse via cell phone.

not going to drag it out is putting it mildly. had to come back a day early since she told me my pre-op exam is friday afternoon and my surgery will be on monday.

sounds pretty good to me and hopefully i will get an answer before the weekend.
