Hello Friends,
I remember I posted a question in the forum when my oral problems began but can't see it now. So I am posting this new one. I had some scars in my cheeks when I posted my first question. Now the scars have healed up but I have a strange pain in my cheek. It's intermittent , hits like a shock from time to time and lasts for a second or so,specially if I keep checking the inside of my mouth continuously. It's in the upper part of my left cheek and there's no specific point of pain there. I consulted two dentists and a GP. Both of them ruled out any possibility of mouth cancer and told me there was no need to go for a biopsy. They keep telling me that the pain is imaginary, not physical. But it's quite frustrating because I fell this pain from time to time. Sometimes even for a whole day long I don't feel pain. But again the next day all of a sudden it hits and lasts for a couple of seconds. I am worried for the reason that I used to intake tobacco (both cigerette and smokeless tobaccoes) very frequently till the problems began. There's a black patch in my both cheeks near the jaw lining that also concerns me. Although the docs I visited said they would go off slowly since I had quit smoking and have no connection with cancer.Sorry if it has been too long a post. But these pain and patches are worrying me.Please let me know if this kind of pain has anything to do with cancer.

Hello Dr. Joshi,
Thanks for pointing out how to bring up a list of previous posts.I know it's hard to diagnose anything from a post like this. But can a cheek pain be a symptom of mouth cancer? The pain is occuring from time to time at the top of upper left cheek and lasting for a couple of seconds. Sometimes it feels like occuring at the upper tooth although it's not in the tooth at all.Dentists and GP I consulted are saying it's all my imaginations. I am not sure what to do. The black patches on the cheek are also worrying me although the doctors are saying those will gradually go away since I have quit smoking. Could you please let me know if there is any cheek pain ,what other symptoms might be associated with this in case of an oral cancer.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Anirban

in my experience, such pains are often a myofascial pain. It is unlikely to be a mouth cancer if all your doctors have said no. Have a read through the past posts and try practicing the advice, I have given about it, then let me kow how you get on.

Best wishes
Vinod Coffee
