Lower Back Pain after treatment

Hi all

My son had his third check up after treatment today. Had the scope and everything looked good in nose & throat area. He did let them know as he did last time that sometimes he experiences lower back tingling and pain. They are going to do a bone scan just as a precaution they said. I think the chemo doctor did say last time it is probably still from the chemo. He had the mixture the one with cisplatin. It's been 5 months since treatment finished. he did originaly have some numbness in his feet also but that seems to have got better. Has anyone else experienced lower back pain? He does think it's got a bit better but I wasn't sure if this was a usual sympton following R/T & Chemo

Meant to say the pain is when he bends his head forward or on exertion????

Hi Mum

Chelle is right I to had tingling/pain in the back, it nearly drove me mad.

It went on for months and months, together with restly legs syndrome, dr had never come across the back thing before but put it down to the cisplatin, scary stuff your mind starts to think all kinds of things.

Anyway the good news is...... it does go away I reckon it was 8 months or so, it seems the dr was right.

Cisplatin is heavy duty stuff with loads of side effects.

I hope the above helps, good luck to your son I am sure he has suffered the same side effects.

Regards

Tony & Kathy

Thanks Tony

Apart from this he is really well. The oncologist said he would have expected it to have cleared up by now. You have put my mind at rest for now and I will let you know how he gets on at his next check when they will hopefully have the result of his MRI scan. hope you are keeping well
