I have a hard mass under my chin area. It covers about half the size of my chin and goes back about halfway to my neck. Basically it is the location the doctor is pointing to in figure 1.8 of the "Examination Technique with Normal Findings and Structures Mistaken for Disease". It is painful when I touch it. Is this something to be concerned about? I just saw my dentist two weeks ago, but the mass wasn't present at that time. I also have a small lump inside my mouth underneath my tongue. I can feel it with my tongue but it is not painful. What should I do about both lumps? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm starting to worry that this may be serious.
P.S. I'm 24 years old, non-smoker, non-drinker. |

Hello Cathy
You should go and see your dentist about this swelling. Could be an infection from a tooth. If so, you may need some antibiotics and treatment to prevent it spreading. Let us know how you get on.
