Hi everyone. Lately I've been wondering about a small (slightly larger than a pea) sized lump. The lump is located on the roof of my mouth (more towards the back) , right side, close to my teeth. It is painless and is very very slightly lighter than the rest of my mouth and it is very hard. I've had this lump for over a year now. I'm concerned it could be cancerous. Perhaps you may know if it could be? I also have headaches a lot, and I mean A LOT. Right now , I've had a headache for 7 days straight (I've taken medicine but it won't go away) I will about once or twice a month get bouts of nausea , no puking though. (doesn't have to do with periods). I don't smoke , chew tobacco or drink, etc. For a long time I've always had an awkward feeling in my throat when I swallow. On the back of my neck , I have a bigger than a quarter sized lump ( movable and soft) and it has also been there for over a year. (though I suppose that could be a lipoma) . I will also get ear aches (more so behind the ear) the aches feel hard and tight and are painful. Please , please help!

Hi Wondering Have you been to your doctor or dentist about this? If not, that would be the best place to start. It could be something as relatively simple as a broken or infected tooth. This is probably going to sound like a dumb question, but do you grind your teeth at night or perhaps TMJ? Your doctor or dentist would be able to rule these out, or treat you appropriately. I really hope that everything turns out well for you. Please let us know what you find out. Julia Howdilly doodilly, survivorinos!

I don't grind my teeth. My appointment with my dentist isn't for months (every 6 months I go) I don't know what TMJ means ( perhaps you could tell me?) do YOU think it could be cancerous?

Sorry about that. TMJ is temporomandibular joint disorder, and it's chronic inflammation of the joint where the jaw meets the skull. Among the symptoms are headache and earache that don't respond to pain meds, and nausea/dizziness. Any lump that doesn't clear up is a cause for concern, but I'm really not qualified to say whether or not I think it's cancerous. Please see your doctor for that.
