1) Has anyone read the John Diamond book? Is it worth reading? Any comments?
2) I heard a while back that Charlie Watts of The Rolling Stones fame was being treated for throat cancer. I now read they are going to start a new tour next year. Does that mean he is now ok? Does anyone out there know the story?
Await your replies.
Take care all,
Sue

Hello Sue

You may John Diamond's book mentioned in previous discussions. I read the book years ago and thought it was a good account of the emotions a head and neck cancer patient goes through. Since then we have had the patient sories on the MCF website and this message board which are easier to relate to as you get to know the writers and are part of the story.

Best wishes
Vinod Coffee

Never let a tumour spoil your sense of humour.

Amazing how your dates are similar to mine.
Lymph glands up in march 2004 ,Biopsy mid sept,
Surgery Oct 2005. RT early nov 'til late dec.
John D's book make compulsive but difficult reading at times. I certainly couldn't have coped with reading it for the first 6 months after my surgery. A friend from a cancer support gp I attend was given it to read while in hospital after his neck dissection. Put him off no end!!.
As an eloquent study in human angst and factual recording of his treatment it is compulsive.
Not all his observations regarding RT are correct - so don't take all of what he says as gospel. A brave book to write.
I often think of getting all of my thoughts down before I either forget them or....Well I don't wanna go there!!.....just yet!
cheers Sue - Tony BTW I am new to the site - it's great!!!
