HI
I was also a tongue cancer sufferer diagnosed in May 2001 a tiny red mark underneath my tongue found by my dentist I had no problems with it no pain swelling nothing I did not know it was there.
Anway 48 hours after the diagnoses I was was shocked non smoker non drinker and a very fit woman. I would urge everyone who has oral cancer to sit down and think first to get over the shock especially if you have had no symtoms. It has led me to a breadown it was diagnosed as mucoid epidermoid ( salibvary gland I believe a minor one. No chemo or radio n=needed but I had a neck dissection for the lymph glands and they were perfectly clear now I regret having anything done as it was a low grade and they had a job to find it. I recognise most people want to get the cancer out as quikly as possible but I have hated the surgeon ever since and have convinced myself I could have gone on for a very long time without treatment in fact I wonder if I might have died with not from it. Granted I am 62 yrs of age and feel that another 5 years or so would have been better enjoyed without this. I will never never have surgery again for cancer that is how it has left me.

Eileen are you still suffering the after effects of the surgery? Is this why you hate the surgeon?
