I have a hard lump in the floor of my mouth. It located between the bottom of the gum line and the middle of the mouth floor, if that makes any sense. It's doesn't move. I'm freaking out, because I'm worried it might be cancer. I've made an appointment with my dentist and am trying to calm down, but can't. | |||

Hello mconstantin It could be an enlarged saliva gland or stone in saliva gland duct or a retrocuspid papillae that you are describing. Cancer is much lower down the list of possibilities but do see your dentist for a definite diagnosis. You may find the descriptions of the normal appearances in the mouth in the article Examination Technique with Normal Findings and Structures Mistaken for Disease helpful (see Fig 1.53 and Fig 1.54). Do let us know how you get on. Best wishes Vinod Disclaimer: Please see your own dentist/doctor for a proper diagnosis as my words should not, in any circumstances, be taken as dental/medical advice.
