My grandfather was diagnosed with tongue cancer in March 2006. Luckily the tumour was able to be removed. My grandfather, a very brave man, has recovered so very well and has found a new lease of life. However, I am now really concerned as he has discovered what I am hoping is only an ulcer on the new tissue on the tongue...however I would be really grateful for an honest answer as to how likely it is that this is a recurrence. WIth thanks ALicia

Hello Alicia

It can be worrying to find an ulcer again but often these are not a recurrence (see Paul's experience). So the best is to await the specialist's opinion (often after a biopsy).

Hope that helps.

Best wishes
