Lump from Novocain InjectionGo ![]() | New ![]() | Find ![]() | Notify ![]() | Tools ![]() | Reply ![]()
I had 3 or 4 novocain shots in the front under upper lip of my mouth right side. I have a lump with a veiny blue dot in the middle from one of these shots. I went to the dentist and he said to leave it alone. Also I had root planing and scaling done and my gum tissue has turned a permanent dark red between two lower front teeth. It is in the form of a triangle. The back of the gum is very dark also. Could this give me cancer? The Doctor said it was permanent. I have read that the ultrasonic scalers they use for this treatment can burn gum tissue. Thank you. This message has been edited. Last edited by: SOS,

Hi SOS The blue lump could be a bruise from internal bledding caused by needle trauma; it should resolve. The inflammed gum could be due to periodontal disease and require treatment. They are unlikely to be mouth cancer but see your dentist again if concerned. Let us know how it turns out.
