Hi Jon,
Let me just be blunt and instead of giving to long drawn advice on how to give up chewing or smoking ar doing anything related with tobaaco - say that carry on with with what you are doing as it is what you want and dont care about the effects it has on your body.
My honest suggestion is dont ask anyone as to how to give up but think for yourself - why should you give up something you obviously enjoy so much but do not want it to kill you? Think over what I have put down and decide if you want to live or die. Noone can help you stop it except you yourself.
Regards,
Ananth

decide who you are and then be that person - i used to smoke - and one day I realized that I had been smoking longer than I had not in my short life and one day I had to just decide and start with day ONE - and then I went to day two - I just decided to be a nonsmoker - some days were tough adn it was not easy but it was a persoanl decision and now that it is 14 years later it was one of the best decisions I ahve ever made for myself!! You have to decide for yourself....decide who you are!!

Hello Jon

Using tobacco in any form creates nicotine addiction. There are several ways to stop. Cold turkey works for many. Your doctor shold be able to direct you to your local tobacco cessation advice centre who can help you with support and the advice you need.

I am a former smoker and nicotine gum addict. There are two simple and basic steps to ensure quitting, and they are this:

1. you must unequivically and absolutely accept that you will never do it again no matter what under any circumstances.

2. If, and when, you DO do it again, start over with #1.

Always go back to step #1 and really mean it.
It will get easier with time to understand all the dynamics of this but it all starts with step #1. The more you suffer as you go through step 1, the closer you are to freedom from cravings and addiction. and the harder it is for you to quit, so much the less you should ever want to start again.

And it does get pretty easy, I must say, to stay nicotine free, once you have #1 firmly down.
