hello.. i have a small little spot on the back of my mouth.. its like about 2 mm wide and isnt painful.. it comes up after eating certain sort of foods like chilli and hard food..... it just feels strange whenever it comes up... its on my soft palette and is in the centre... i went to my dentist who advised me its nothing.. its something called a spicule which inflames whenever i eat something...

what i want to know does anyone else have this.. i just need another view on this...

It doesn't seem like a cancer as they don't 'come and go' with chilli foods. It could be a minor salivary gland swelling up in response to the irritation of the chilli. You could ask your dentist to refer you to your local maxillofacial unit for a second opinion if it persists.

thanks for that doc... could you explain to me what a spicule is... the doctor said it is nothing to worry about and if its causing irritation he can cut it off...

A spicule often refers to bit of prominent bone under the gum left as an extraction site heals over.
