Hello Reynajarred
It might just be scar tissue following the earlier 'biopsy', or a recurrence of the previous abcess, or something else - there is no way of knowing other than by examining it. So you will need to see your doctor or dentist for a proper examination, investigation as necessary and evaluation. Let us know how you get on. Reynajarred...
I'm the wife of a tongue cancer survivor. My Dan was diagnosed November 2004 in stage 4. Obviously I wish his cancer had been discovered long before it reached the most advanced stage. Please allow me to reiterate Dr. Joshi's advice to you. DO make the appointment right away to have a check. As Dr. J. stated, there are several possible explanations for your lump other than cancer, but one cannot be too careful. If it's scar tissue or an abcess... obviously you need relief from the pain described. That alone warrants a medical check. (Do not put up with pain that could be possible to reduce or eliminate.) If the lump is cancer (God forbid) then you want it diagnosed and treated as quickly as possible. My very best to you. I hope you will take the advice to have an exam promptly and that answers will soon follow. You need relief from pain... and peace of mind. Do post a note after you see a doc or dentist. We are interested to know how you fare. I will remember you in my prayers and hope this lump turns out to be something simple and easily-treatable. From my heart, Melanie |
