Hey guys have a question has anyone had an issue with severely chapped lips after radiation. I am six months out from radiation ending and my lips are so red and sore. They have even peeled. Dentist has told me to use vaseline. They are better some but still hurt and burn.

Thanks,

Pam C.

Hi Pam

Have you tried Burt's Bees lip balm? It's very soothing.

Hi Pam

I always use vaseline on my lips every night before going to bed and find this helps and then apply lipstick regularly during the day to keep them from drying out. I definitely can't lick my lips anymore!!!

Hi Pam,

I used to plaster my lips with Vaseline. I have been out of RT for 17 months and I still have the odd weeks when they burn and go really red. They look just like I have been drinking red pop and haven't wiped my lips afterwards. I suppose it's quite funny but I do seem to be very conscious of them.

Hope yours get better soon.

Hi all thanks for replying,

Mine are quie red the sentist said just vaseline. No capstick or anything, tol my husband not to kiss me too.

I think it is just all in the radiation. They told me my mouth is more acody because of no saliva I think that is what is causing my problem.

Thanks for all your tips and advise.

Hi Pam,

I tried lipstick but kept getting strange looks!

I use Vaseline and an aloe vera lip balm which really helps when I go out into the fresh air. Lips still get dry especially in the corners and go red. I just keep applying it.

regards

You were probably just using the wrong shade, Kenny. Not everyone can pull off Fire Engine Red. Big Grin

Bet you enjoyed it though Kenny. Perhaps it just didn't go with your eyeshadow! Wink
