Is there other websites I can visit to read more survivor stories of patients with oral cancer?

TRW,

Is the question you're referring to this one: "Could these all be symptoms of oral cancer too?" Not too wise to ask for a diagnosis on the internet where a professional can't see what it is you're describing. The best guess (and since I'm not a professional, it is only a guess) is Maybe it is; maybe it isn't. You won't know until you go for your scheduled appointment with the oral surgeon. Even at that, the doc may require a biopsy if necessary, or other tests; on the other hand, the doc may say, "No, it's only xxxx. Take this antibiotic and you'll be fine." No one here can provide a definitive answer for you with so little information.

There's another very good site (but not as friendly as this one!) that you can also explore:

Oral Cancer Foundation

Hang in there! Your appointment isn't too far off. One thing nearly all of us share is that sometimes the fear of the unknown is worse than being faced with the facts.

Best of luck to you,

Mimi

I have been looking at pics on the internet of oral/mouth cancer and my lump/knot on the floor of my mouth doesn't look like any of those pics. I think I will be o.k. However I will still keep my consult with the oral surgeon and see what he says.

Well, my oral surgeon appt. is next Tuesday. I now have noticed a hard pimple like bump on the upper roof of my mouth just behind my two front teeth. Haven't tried to pop it, too scared. My husband looked at it and says it looks white and red. It is sore if I touch it but if I leave it alone it doesn't bother me at all unless I am eating chips or something sharp hits it then it hurts a little. Anyone have anything like this before. Please let me know if you do or what u think it could be. I actually noticed it about 2 weeks ago. It hasn't gotten bigger but it isn't going away either. I am soooo worried I just wish Tues. would hurry up and get here so the surgeon can tell me that I was worrying for nothing.

This could be the incisive papilla that you have described. See Figure 1.24

If so, it is normal. On occasion, it does swell or hurt, especially if you burn it eg. with a hot drink or pizza or bite a crisp over it.

Well, tomorrow is my oral surgeon appt. I am thinking that it is going to be good news and that the lump on the bottom of my mouth is a tori mandibularis and that the pimple looking thing on the upper part of my mouth is from eating hot foods and it swelling up. Can't think of the name they call it but I am not scared about tomorrow's visit. Wish me luck and if all goes well, I will be on here tomorrow letting u all know that I was worrying and freaking out about nothing. God Bless!!

Good Morning TRW,
your last post makes good reading, I am very pleased for you.
Now there is the matter of smoking; have the last few weeks worry been enough to convince you that smoking is just not worth it?
Keep Smiling
