could feeling in throat be an absess?

I have been having a sensation of something stuck in my throat, ear pain, coughing and other symptoms of "globus hystericus", some of which subsided after reading about globus. it started as a sensation of a small lump but it didn't feel like it was in my throat, more like it was growing on my larynx under my left lymph node.
But now it feels like it's in my throat.
I've been to an ENT and like so many others I've read about, was told it was associated with acid reflux. After increasing my dosage for about a month with no change, i'm starting to doubt it's the reflux.
I was wondering if the problems I was having may be some type of absess from my wisdom tooth. The ENT said no, but about a week ago my dentist said maybe. He took a panoramic xray and found something abnormal at the tip of my bottom wisdom tooth root. He said I should go to an oral surgeon and let him evaluate it. He said he would not want to remove the tooth since whatever it was was crossways from the root. I had a filling put in it about 13 years ago. My dentist then didn't want to pull it cause it was too close to an artery.
I know I should go ahead and let the oral surgeon look at it and cut it out, but that probably would cost more than I can afford at the moment.
I guess if it was an absess I would have a foul tasting substance in mouth whenever it released, unless it was releasing in to my lymph nodes, that could explain them feeling a little harder and larger than normal.
Anyone hear of anything like this? Thanks.
