Pain after tongue biopsy
 Login/Join

Hi,

My Mum had a tongue biopsy on 28th October 2009, which confirmed tongue cancer on the base of her tongue.

She is scheduled for an op to remove it early December, but she is experiencing pain from the biospy which has increased with time (at first it wasn't so bad and she didn't need to take pain killers, but now she has no choice).

Is this "normal" to have pain so long after the biopsy? She wasn't experiencing any pain prior.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and regards

My mom never had a tongue biopsy, however as time went on whe did have alot of pain in her tonguue and it became lopsided. I would talk to your Doctor about it, and dont let them fob you off.

Hope all goes well with the surgery, could your mom not have just had radio and chemo as my mom did, as opposed to surgery?

Hi Fiona

I don't recall any pain that was particularly post-biopsy, but cancer, left to its own devices, hurts like a (CENSORED). I probably had tongue pain, but my ear hurt so much more due to "referred" pain that it really stole the show.

Please voice your concerns with her doctors--that's what they're there for.

Keep us posted.

Hi,

Thanks so much for your replies. Surgery has been suggested as the best course of action Mum.

We have an appt with Mum's Oncologist tomorrow and we will certainly voice our concerns about the pain Mum is experiencing.

Thanks again. Will keep you posted.
