Pimple/canker sore like underside of tongue (by frenulum), swollen lymph? (pic)

I registered here today when I saw that people are so helpful.

Today as I was eating lunch I noticed the left side of my tongue on the underside felt "tired" or sore, like it wasn't a sharp pain just a dull like growing pain type thing or something it is not a constant pain like canker sores. Then I noticed the area around my left lymph node under my jaw was a hard bump. Not like a outside skin bump but like a lump type bump and pushing up on the bump gives me that "tired" type sensation on the area under my tongue again. Then I noticed a tiny bump with my tongue I been playing with. I was finally able to get home and check it out and see what it could be it looks like a pimple under what I have read refered to as warton ducts?

I have read many possible problems, and some have stated it could be the swelling form the body fighting an infection. I did go camping on memorial day weekend and my right leg got bitten up horribly swelled up was very tender to the touch and red. That has since gone down (after soaking in epsom salt and icing the area. It still feels a bit tender but seems its on the way out. other than that I am aware of no infection

Anyway here is the picture of the bump. Please let em know if anyone has any suggestions what it could be!

I am hyper linking for any of those that are squeamish. Also posted not sure if you can tell but there looks like swelling on my face but that could just be my fat face Smiler. little more about me, I drink 1 beer at dinner occasionally (a bit heavier on the weekends), Maybe less than 10 cigarettes my whole life (27 years old spaced out last cigarette was 2 years ago in dec.). I'm not subjected to second hand smoke constantly either outside of visits to restaurants and such.

Thank you for your input, it is not "painful" just annoying and worried. I would like to at least have an idea what I might be looking at before visiting the doctor reading many recounts many people have had trouble getting anywhere with these issues (couldn't find anything like mine).

Just an update, last night after I brushed my teeth, the white thing fell out, it was very hard not squishy at all. no discomfort the area under my jaw still feels swollen but appears to have gone down some and the area the white thing was attached to is still a bit enlarged. I might wait a few days before heading to the doctor but would still like to know if anyone has any ideas what ti is.

Hello KC10

It appears to be a stone in the Wharton duct orifice that caused an infection and gave rise to a swollen lymph node in the neck. Salivary gland stones are most common in the ductal system of submandibular glands and are calcified. Sometimes a stone comes out into the mouth on its own or with gentle probing.

More at: Sialolithiasis (Salivary Duct Stones)

Now that the stone has discharged, things should get better. Do report back.

Best wishes
Vinod Coffee

Thank you for your input! I was so scared there yesterday when all I knew was I had a lump on my neck and a bump in my mouth!!!

Everything has returned to normal rather quickly, It feels a tiny bit tender when I push on my lymph node area but it is all in all gone, no discomfort felt at all today. Thanks again!!

Hi! You took a bad time to feel lumps, given the holidays and everyone not at their normal routines. I'd make a dentist appt first thing in the morning, advising the scheduler that you think it's an emergency. Dentists usually fit you in, no matter how they're booked.

I haven't had your problem so I can't give you any meaningful answers, but am sure someone will come along with some info for you. Make that dentist appointment!

hi everybody. I have similar symptoms. They came on rather rapidly. I have a swollen neck under my jaw, and a swollen gland under my tongue. I have researched it a bit, it seems to be a white hard spot on my whorton duct. After reading about stones I tried to squeeze it out, so far nothing. What do you suggest? how big was your stone?
