Hey everyone,

One of my tonsils (I think it's my tonsil) is enlarged. I noticed it about 4-5 months ago. Aside from being able to see it I've had no other symptoms. I was concerned so I went to get it checked out by a specialist. They didn't do a whole lot except feel my neck and they looked at it by sticking some tube in my nose and into my throat. The doctor said it wasn't malignant and not to worry.

The problem is...I'm in Japan and the communication was almost none. He knew the word malignant, wrote it down, and then put an X through it. But since I couldn't ask any questions because of language barriers I'm still concerned about it. It all felt pretty rushed.

My question is this: is it possible for a doctor to know whether an enlarged tonsil is malignant or not just by looking at it for such a short period? There were no tests, just feeling around my neck, looking in my mouth, and that tube thing in my nose and to my throat...

Thanks for any help!
