I have been using smokeless tobacco for alittle over a year and two days ago I noticed a sore on the top of my bottom lip. (the part that touches the bottom of the upper lip, the part people see and the part that you kiss others with) Here are my questions: 1. Could this be cancer? 2. Can cancer develop from 1 year of dipping tobacco? 3. I know your going to tell me to go see a doctor but im worried and I need to know some facts. Im already starting to think about death and being a cancer patient. Im to young. Please help me.This message has been edited. Last edited by: Dr Vinod K Joshi, | |||

Hello jon It is not possible to make a diagnosis over the Internet, so please see your doctor or dentist for a proper diagnosis. Most non-cancer ulcers will heal within 3 weeks. While chewing tobacco does increase your risk of mouth cancer, it is unlikely that it would occur that soon. My advice is to stop this dangerous habit of chewing tobacco. Hope that helps put your mind at rest. Do let us know how you get on.
