Question for Dr. Joshi - bit worriedGo ![]() | New ![]() | Find ![]() | Notify ![]() | Tools ![]() | Reply ![]()
Hi Doctor- Almost a week ago I developed a lump inside my lip and it hasn't shown signs of regressing. I'm 28 years old, don't drink, smoke or use tobacco. Also, I have a history of getting cold sores on the outside of my lips. However, I am still worried that there could be a chance of it being cancerous. I plan to make an appointment with a physician but I'd like your opinion before I do so. Here is a picture I took of it tonight although it isn't the best quality: http://img399.imageshack.us/img399/8043/lip23pm.jpg Please let me know what you think it could be. Thanks, BrianThis message has been edited. Last edited by: Brian K.,

Hello Brian Arrange to see your doctor or dentist if the lump still remains after another weeks. There are may causes for a small lump like the one shown: mucocele or mucous retention cyst, sebaceous gland, or fibroma (lump of fibrous tissue) among others. These are benign lesions and can be treated. Let us know how you get on.
