is mouth cancer the same as tongue cancer? could some one please expalin... thanks

I am sorry to hear that your mum has a problem.Try to look at this from a positive standpoint, you live in a country where medical expertise is as good as you will find and the people helping your mum know a good deal about it all.
Like you,I looked at the survival rates and found little comfort in the figures but then one day the oncologist told me that there was a 20%chance of secondary tumours I came away feeling cheered up at the thought that there was an 80% chance of no secondaries.
I think it was George Bernard Shaw who said there are lies, damned lies and statistics.So don't pay too much attention to the figures just get on with helping your mum to do the things she has difficulty with at the moment.
Someone has to feed the cat and put the empty milk bottles out.
To answer one of your questions, the description mouth cancer covers the the head and neck so tongue is included.
Please feel free to ask any questions you wish,the site has more than 1000 members,most of are mouth cancer patients,so someone will know the answer to your questions.

Hello, thankyou soooooooo much i feel much calmer now. i am glad you told me there is only a 20% risk of the cancer re occuring, it has brought me much relief. My mum is in hospital again because she has an infection- nothing to serious. I will come on this message board again and keep you updated. Once again thankyou for your advice and for the reassurance, it means alot, from worried one
