Hi there, I hope you can help. I had a very sore tongue for about a week, and also found some small white spots on the inside of my cheeks which I could easily scrape off, although they would bleed afterwards. It's now a week later, and I've got a sore throat and lumps in my neck, which I assume are swollen lymph glads. My doctor said that she thought I and Oral Thrush, but my tongue stopped being sore and I just have a sore throat that isn't clearing up. I'm scared witless this is oral cancer because of the raised glands etc. Should I be worried?

Hi Lydia You seem to be describing an Oral Thrush fungal infection. This Mayo Clinic link will explain it all. The swollen glands could be due to the infection. Your doctor should be treating the thrush! Ah ha! Dr Vishnod, you're a clever one, without your reassurance I think I would have driven my boyfriend mad. Thanks, yet again, for putting my mind at rest...
