Can parotid cancer be in JAW?

I am new to this site so bear with me. I have had pain in my jaw which Dr. thought was a salivary infection. Antibiotics for 7 days now but woke up this morning with a painful lump in my jaw. The photos I have seen on this site all have the salivary gland cancer close to the ear. My lump is in my jaw on the left side of my face. Just wondering if it can happen there. I have a Dr. appt today, but wanted to get educated beforehand. Thanks.

Hello Wunderer - Welcome to the site. If you read some of the case histories on the main page you will see that tumours can appear in the jaw - mine did - and I started with a salivary gland blockage. Don't wish to panic you as your situation could have umpteen different explanations. You will have seen your doctor by now so please let us know how you got on. Godd lick. B x

Hello Wunderer

I would suggest that you see your dentist also as it is possible that the problem is caused by a tooth infection in the lower jaw that was causing the pain in the jaw and has now given rise to the swelling. A dental cause needs to be ruled out.

Best wishes
