tongue questions?

hello,

i just stumbled across this forum and thought it best to muster some courage and ask the following, after seeing some very helpful and friendly posts/contributors:

- i've just discovered that I have two small 'folds' next to my lingual frenulum (i think thats what it's called) - they are very soft and painless but since i've found out about them i can't help playing with them with my tongue as i'm worried that there could be something wrong - are these normal? and should i just leave them alone?

- i've noticed that my tongue isn't symmetrical and slightly larger on one side - is this OK? the reason why i've noticed this is because under my tongue approximately below the top portion there are two veins running up and one seems bigger and 'flabbier' than the other - is this ok or anything i need to worry about; again both are painless.

i'm hoping that there is nothing wrong and that it's just my increased awareness of these that's causing me so much grief. I've just been to the dentist yesterday who was quite busy but had a look before/after cleaning my teeth and said that I had nothing to worry about and that everything is ok?

any advice would be much appreciated.

sorry for the inconvenience - i hate being a pain - especially when i have no pain or anything!

Hello technics

Looks like just variations of normal anatomy but ask your dentist to confirm this about it at your next checkup. If it gets painful (without your prodding it) or it enlarges, do see your dentist earlier for an opinion. Let us know how you get on.

Best wishes

Thanks Dr Vinod, really appreciate you taking the time out to reply to my post and for quoting my own diagnosis :P (you just saved my sanity!! Big Grin) - my dentist did say it was all ok as well (phew!)

I'll stop prodding immediately and god forbid if there is any pain or it enlarges i'll go to my dentist immediately.

once again thanks a lot! this is a great forum.

btw i've got slight oral thrush what's a good natural way to reduce this w/out taking meds? (apart from eating yogurt which i'm doing lots of :P)
