Hi again
Has anybody heard of or had any experience with Zygomatic implants. I was on holiday recently in Marbella and heard an ad on radio (Agave clinic Marbella). They claim that they are suitable for all bone structures and require no bone grafts etc. 5 years now since my Chemo/Rad/Surgery etc and my teeth are deteriorating (little repair caps everywhere and they keep falling out) Just wondered if anyone has experienced this system. |

Hello Phil
Zygomatic implants were introduced by Nobel Biocare to avoid bone grafts in the edentulous maxilla. More bone grafts are done than zygomatic implants. You can do your own Google research. I have worked with them for three H&N cancer patients over the last 18 years. They are more difficult to place when half the maxilla is missing! But often the only solution for providing retention for a prosthesis. Read Mick's story. He had zygomatic implants. Unfortunately, not enough maxillofacial surgeons do them here and there isn't (as far as I know) a clear centre of excellence with vast experience of using them for h & n cancer rehabilitation. Check how many head and neck cancer rehabilitation patients the clinic in Marbella has treated. Best wishes Vinod Disclaimer: Please see your own dentist/doctor for a proper diagnosis as my words should not, in any circumstances, be taken as dental/medical advice. Hi Vinod
Many thanks as usual for your help. I've got no serious jaw disorders at all just a bit of stiffness and just thought it sounded like an easier procedure than individual implanting. I will run it past my clinic next check up/my dentist and also check if they have any experience. Phil |
