| Help please -lump under tongue (2 pics)

About four days ago, my husband noticed a lump under his tongue. He said that it doesn't really hurt, but is a little sore. We are trying to get him in to see a doctor, but in the meantime thought maybe we could get some advice here to ease our minds.

It is not possible to make a diagnosis over the Internet but it looks like a localised inflammation of the salivary duct opening that could have been caused by trauma (rubbing against a tooth edge?  ) or (viral/bacterial)infection. If so, it should heal without treatment within the next 14 days or so. Warm salty mouth rinses might make it feel better and encourage saliva flow.
